Sometimes extractions and oral surgery are the only viable solution to a recurring dental problem. When this happens we offer supportive and valuable advice on exactly why you need to take the surgical route to better oral health.
There are many reasons why a tooth might need to be removed from your mouth. Severe damage, cracks or decay and periodontal disease, are just a few precursors to eventually needing to have a tooth extracted.
Wisdom teeth are also often removed because they are impacted against other teeth – in other words they do not have enough room to grow and may trap recurring infections, which can be painful. If a wisdom tooth extraction is necessary and straightforward, we can do it for you without surgery.
If however, your wisdom teeth are impacted, or you’d prefer to have them all out at once with a general anaesthetic, we’ll recommend oral surgery – and refer you to a specialist maxillofacial surgeon. Emergency treatment like having a tooth extracted or needing to go in for oral surgery, is never good news. But ignoring the problem won’t make it go away! The best you can hope for, is that your dentist is professional, knowledgeable and kind. We offer our patients all of these and more, because your comfort and care is the most important part of our practice.
